The recently concluded black economic empowerment (BEE) transaction between Royal Bafokeng Holdings (RBH) and Impala Platinum Holdings (Implats) has won the BusinessMap Foundation's BEE Deal of the Year award. In terms of the transaction, RBH – investment vehicle of the Royal Bafokeng Nation (RBN) – acquired a 12.1 % interest in Implats, the world’s second largest platinum producer, taking its total holding to 13.4%.
