Royal Bafokeng Holdings (RBH) mourns the loss of our Queen Mother, her Royal Majesty, Dr Semane Bonolo Molotlegi of the Royal Bafokeng Nation (RBN).
The Queen Mother was married to the late Kgosi Edward Patrick Lebone Molotlegi and was the mother of Kgosi Leruo Molotlegi, the current King of the Royal Bafokeng Nation.
Affectionally known as Mmemogolo, The Queen Mother will be remembered for her passion for people and the advancement of young people and has consistently applied this to her community work dating back to pre-democracy.
She believed in the importance of education and was the founder of the Thuto Thebe Educational Fund. Amongst some of her many initiatives she was the founder of the Bafokeng Women’s Club and one of the founding members of the provincial council on AIDS in the North West Province of South Africa.

Whilst we are deeply saddened by Mmemogolo’s passing we are encouraged by her selfless role she played towards the uplifment of the Bafokeng and the legacy she leaves behind, which will continue to benefit future generations of Bafokeng.
Mmemogolo will be honoured and remembered for her shared vision with her late husband, Kgosi Lebone I, of making “education is a shield" a reality and saw the vision upheld and fostered by her son, the late Kgosi Lebone II, which resulted in many educational advocacy programmes and her proud legacy in her efforts for a better and just society.
